Classmate Chao Pei-Ling is diligent and studious, consistently excelling in academics. She has consistently ranked at the top of her class in academic performance over the years. For three consecutive years in the academic years 108 to 110, she received both the Scholar Award and the Honor Student Award, distinguishing herself as an outstanding student in our department. This year, she was also recognized as a Honors Student Award of Taichung City and selected as an honorary member of the Phi Tau Phi Honor Society. Her performance in research projects has been outstanding as well. Not only did she receive top honors at the department's research presentation in the 110th academic year, but she also had two research papers published in journals. Furthermore, she actively participates in clubs and sports activities, achieving commendable results in various competitions. She is also enthusiastic about promoting science education, assisting in organizing high school biology camps hosted by our department as a teaching assistant for practical activities. She gets along very well with her peers, displaying kindness and amiability. Her overall performance serves as an exemplary model for her classmates. Therefore, the numerous honors Chao has received are well-deserved. Under the guidance of our department, she passed the entrance exam and enrolled in the master's program in Optoelectronic Engineering at National Taiwan University at the end of last year. She will embark on a new journey after this summer!
Chao's Reflection:
I am very happy to have completed my four years of university studies. During these four years, I would like to thank the professors and senior students for their guidance, which has helped me excel in my field of expertise and plan for my future. Although university life wasn't as easy as I imagined and required a lot of time to improve academically, I'm glad to have been able to join the department team for sports during my spare time, which helped relieve stress and boost dopamine secretion. Achieving such excellent results over these four years, I must thank my family for the education they provided me since childhood, teaching us four siblings not to skip classes and to do our best in our studies. Unconsciously, this instilled a sense of responsibility in me, which I maintained even in university. Although I missed out on the typical experience of skipping classes in university, and although my grades may seem excellent, my university life was not dull because I challenged myself and did many crazy things with friends, experiencing many things I hadn't had the chance to before! I believe that the knowledge I have absorbed and the challenges I have faced at Tunghai University over these four years will become nutrients for my future journey. Thank you to Tunghai University for the experiences of sweetness and bitterness. I am eagerly anticipating and nervous about my life in graduate school, and I hope to maintain the attitude of learning from my university days and move forward bravely in the field I love!
Editor's Note: It's really difficult to receive the Luce Scholarship! The purpose of this scholarship is to select outstanding and excellent students to serve as role models for all students. According to the regulations: academic performance must be in the top 10% of the class every semester, conduct grades must be above 85 (grade A), basic labor and sports grades must be above 80 (grade A-), and students must have outstanding performance in promoting public welfare activities or participating in national competitions. So, students who have the opportunity to receive the Luce Scholarship are definitely the cream of the crop among their peers!
